Nitish provides ₹2,500 crore to 25 lakh women for starting their own companies

• Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar transferred ₹2,500 crore to 25 lakh women as part of the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, providing ₹10,000 each.

• The event took place at the Chief Minister’s office in Patna, attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha.

• Previously, Prime Minister Narendra Modi transferred ₹7,500 crore to 75 lakh women remotely.

• The scheme allows one woman from each family to start her own business, with a total of ₹10,000 crore disbursed to 1 crore beneficiaries to date.

• Additional funds for remaining beneficiaries are planned for distribution on October 8.

• Mr. Kumar expressed confidence that the financial assistance will help women create job opportunities and contribute to family prosperity and state development.

• The program included participation from self-help group (SHG) members, known as Jeevika didis, via live telecast at various levels.

• Priority is given to women from economically weaker sections and those without permanent income sources, as well as unmarried women with deceased parents.

• Eligible applicants must be aged between 18 and 60 years.

• After six months, successful women entrepreneurs may receive an additional ₹2 lakh grant based on performance evaluation.
