NSCN General Secretary Thuingaleng Muivah Returns to Manipur

• NSCN general secretary Thuingaleng Muivah returns to his village in Manipur’s Naga-dominated Ukhrul district after six decades.

• The village of about 4,500 people greeted the 91-year-old leader, known as Avakharar, who means “eldest father” in the Tangkhul tongue.

• Muivah’s homecoming was attended by thousands in Ukhrul, the district headquarters.

• Muivah, the first “Prime Minister” in India to visit Ukhrul, bordering Myanmar, is the Ato Kilonser (Prime Minister) in the Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim.

• He expressed gratitude for the preservation of his birthplace and the fight for a sovereign Nagalim.

• Muivah defended the “historic national decision for a sovereign Nagalim” and pledged to defend the sovereign national decisions of Nagalim.

• He will stay at a specially designed Gethsemane Prayer Hall until October 28 and is scheduled to leave for Senapati, another Naga-majority district in Manipur, on October 29.
