Om Prakash Chautala, Five-Time Chief Minister of Haryana, Dies
• Om Prakash Chautala, five-time Haryana Chief Minister and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) chief, passed away at the age of 89.
• Chautala was a seven-time MLA and a significant contributor to the formation of the INLD.
• He was in jail for 19 months during the Emergency and was the Leader of the Opposition for around eight years.
• Chautala was convicted in a case of illegal recruitment in January 2013 and sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment.
• He was CM for the shortest span of five days in July 1990 and again for 15 days in March-April 1991.
• Chautala was known for his organisational skills and strong connection with grassroots workers.
