    • Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar asserts that only Parliament has the jurisdiction to remove a High Court judge.

    • A notice for Justice Shekhar Yadav’s removal from the Allahabad High Court is pending with him.

    • This comes amid the Supreme Court’s summons to Justice Yadav to appear before senior judges of the top court.

    • Dhankhar requested the Rajya Sabha Secretary General to share information about 55 Upper House members’ notices for Justice Yadav’s removal.

    • Opposition parties moved the notice in December 2024, seeking Justice Yadav’s impeachment over alleged controversial remarks.
