Pakistan-Indus pact halted
• Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced the decision at a Cabinet Committee on Security meeting.
• The decision was made due to the “cross-border linkages” of the Pahalgam terror attack.
• The Indus Waters Treaty of 1960 will be held in abeyance until Pakistan abjects its support for crossborder terrorism.
• The Integrated Check Post in Attari will be closed with immediate effect.
• Pakistan nationals holding Indian visas will have to return by May 1.
• Pakistani nationals under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES) will not be allowed to travel to India.
• Military advisers in the Pakistani High Commission will be declared persona non grata.
• The strength of the Indian mission in Islamabad and the Pakistani mission in New Delhi will be reduced to 30 from 55 by May 2025.
