Poland will join NATO’s fuel network amid tensions with Russia

• Poland is set to join NATO’s fuel pipeline network after 25 years of NATO membership, amid increasing tensions with Russia and Belarus.

• The existing NATO Pipeline System, which spans 10,000 km, was established during the Cold War and does not currently serve Polish military bases near these borders.

• The Polish Defence Ministry and national pipeline operator PERN have announced a €4.7 billion investment for this integration.

• Deputy Defence Minister Cezary Tomczyk emphasized this as a significant investment in Poland’s national security over the past three decades.

• Plans include constructing a 300 km pipeline from Germany to the military base in Bydgoszcz, which hosts NATO’s joint force training centre and support units.
