Prime Minister Internship Scheme in India: Progress and Acceptance

• Over 50,000 candidates have accepted 1.53 lakh offers from companies under the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS).

• Of these, about 6% have joined the companies as interns.

• The PMIS, announced in the Budget 2024-25, aims to provide internships in India’s top 500 companies to one crore youth in five years.

• In the first round, over 1.27 lakh internship opportunities were posted on the PMIS portal.

• In the second round, over 1.18 lakh internship opportunities were posted across 735 districts.

• As of 17.07.2025, over 71,000 offers were made to the youth, and over 22,500 offers have been accepted.

• In total, 1.53 lakh offers have been made, with 50,500 accepted.
