Prime Minister Narendra Modi Calls for “GST Savings Festival” Celebration

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written an open letter to citizens, calling for the celebration of the “GST Bachat Utsav (GST Savings Festival).

• The new GST structure is expected to accelerate growth, boost savings, and benefit all sections of society, including farmers, traders, and MSMEs.

• Modi recalled the implementation of GST in 2017 and emphasized the unity of the nation economically through ‘One Nation One Tax’.

• The reforms aim to achieve Viksit Bharat by 2047, promoting self-reliance and strengthening local manufacturing.

• He also urged State governments to encourage industry, manufacturing, and investment climate improvement.

• Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the reduced prices of household goods due to the GST cuts.

• Vaishnaw stated that GST benefits are shared across all States, reflecting the Prime Minister’s emphasis on cooperative federalism.

• The reforms are expected to lead to an estimated increase of ₹20 lakh crore in the country’s GDP.
