RGI’s web portal and apps will make census data ‘accessible early’.
2027 Indian Census Data to Be Available Early
• The Registrar-General and Census Commissioner of India (RGI) announced that the 2027 Census will be conducted digitally.
• The first digital Census will be conducted in two phases, with data collected electronically and sent to the central server.
• The data will be available early, unlike the two to three years it took for primary data to be available after the previous census.
• Self-enumeration will be available through a dedicated web portal.
• All states will appoint nodal officers for the exercise.
• Data will be collected using Mobile Apps in English, Hindi, and regional languages.
