SC: Cauvery-Vellar project not approved by Centre

• The Union government has not granted ‘in-principle approval’ for the Cauvery-South Vellar Link project, four years after Tamil Nadu requested clearance from the Jal Shakti Ministry.
• The decision was made by a Bench of Justices A.S. Oka and A.G. Masih, stating it was unnecessary to consider Karnataka’s interim plea for injunction as Tamil Nadu’s project clearance request has not received Centre approval.
