SC gives charge of kabaddi federation to governing body Top
• The Supreme Court has ordered the transfer of the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI) to a new governing body.
• The AKFI, recognized by the Union Sports Ministry, is to facilitate the selection and conditioning of the women’s team for the Senior Asian Kabaddi Championship hosted by Iran.
• Justice S.P. Garg, appointed administrator of the AKFI by the Delhi High Court, was commended for his transparency and reforms in the sport’s administration.
• The court ordered compliance with the order by February 11, and a compliance report to be filed by the AKFI in March.
• The court also urged the International Kabaddi Federation (IKF) to comply with the AKFI’s positive assurance to allow the Indian team to participate in the upcoming championships.
• The court clarified that handing over the AKFI charge does not automatically mean the court has already recognized it.
