Security heightened in Manipur before conflict anniversary

• Security personnel intensified patrolling in the “buffer zone” around the Meitei-majority Imphal Valley.

• Vehicles were frisked in vulnerable locations in the Valley, Churachandpur, and Kangpokpi hill districts.

• Two Kuki-Zo student organizations called for a shutdown of all educational institutions, shops, and commercial establishments on Saturday, which an apex tribal organisation called ‘Separation Day’.

• Half of the 6,020 weapons looted from police armouries have been recovered, increasing the total to 3,000 since February 13, 2022.
