Special Debate on Impact of Shubhanshu Shukla’s Space Trip

• After a near-wash-out of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, the government has listed a special discussion on India’s first astronaut aboard the International Space Station and the critical role of the space programme for a Viksit Bharat by 2047 in Monday’s Lok Sabha agenda.

• The discussion has not been listed in the Rajya Sabha, which usually takes up a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC).

• The Opposition has not yet decided whether to participate in the discussion.

• Astronaut Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla returned to India after his visit to the International Space Station.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted India’s development of its own space station during his address at the 79th THE HINDU BUREAU, NEW DELHI Independence Day celebrations.
