Stalin believes that recapturing Katchatheevu will end the issue of fishermen’s arrests

• Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin emphasized that retrieving Katchatheevu islet from Sri Lanka is essential for resolving fishermen arrests but criticized the BJP-led Union government for lack of cooperation.

• During an inauguration function, Stalin noted the Assembly’s unanimous resolution for reclaiming the islet, but claimed Prime Minister Modi and Minister Jaishankar did not engage with the issue.

• He highlighted India’s External Affairs Ministry’s silence in response to the Sri Lankan Foreign Affairs Minister’s statement asserting Katchatheevu belongs to Sri Lanka.

• Stalin criticized the BJP-led Central government for its indifference to ethnic violence in Manipur and incidents in Gujarat, contrasting it with their swift response to the stampede at a Tamil event.

• With upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, he warned citizens against BJP’s political tactics, asserting that the DMK government would not yield to Centre’s pressures and would continue to hold it accountable.

• The Chief Minister inaugurated 109 completed projects during the event.
