• The Supreme Court upheld the Telangana government’s domicile rule for medical and dental college admissions under the State quota.

• The rule requires students to have studied in the state for four years preceding Class 12 to qualify.

• The Supreme Court affirmed the constitutionality of the Telangana Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Rules, 2017 as amended in 2024.

• The rules excluded students whose parents were permanent residents of the State but temporarily studied outside Telangana.
