The area of paddy and pulses has grown during kharif season. Centre

• Paddy, pulses, coarse grains, and oilseed cultivation increased this kharif season.

• Paddy sowing increased by 3.44 lakh hectares compared to last year, while pulse sowing increased by 2.20 lakh hectares.

• Pulse sowing increased to 20.67 lakh hectares in 2024-25, compared to 18.47 lakh hectares in 2023-24.

• Sowing of onion and potato increased by 2.82 lakh hectares and 0.47 lakh hectares respectively.

• The Ministry also noted a better total water storage situation than last year.

• Actual stock of rice and wheat exceeded the buffer standard.

• The meeting decided to launch a campaign to promote scientific agriculture, visiting about 700 villages.
