    • West Bengal Chief Secretary Manoj Pant seeks immediate intervention from Odisha counterpart Manoj Ahuja to stop alleged harassment and arbitrary detention of Bengali-speaking migrant workers.

    • The letter, dated July 3, calls such treatment “unacceptable” and seeks verification of the Indian citizenship of these workers.

    • Despite multiple attempts to provide verified data, no concrete action has been taken in Odisha to stop such instances of harassment.

    • The West Bengal government is ready to provide any additional data and verification required to ensure the workers’ safety.

    • Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Samirul Islam criticizes the Odisha government for detaining workers illegally beyond 24 hours without being produced in court.
