Tiger Zeenat Tranquilized and Caged in Bengal
• Zeenat, a three-year-old tiger from Odisha, was tranquilized and caged in Bankura district of West Bengal.
• The tiger had been on the run from the Similipal Tiger Reserve in Odisha and Jharkhand before entering West Bengal.
• Debal Roy, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest and Chief Wildlife Warden, confirmed preliminary health observation of the tiger.
• The decision to release the tiger back into the wild will be made after the animal’s health is assessed.
• The tranquillisation and caging have been a relief for forest officials and residents in the Jangalmahal area of West Bengal.
• The tiger has been changing its location every few days, reportedly killing over three domestic goats.
