Top Maoist leader among 27 Chhattisgarh deaths
• 27 Maoists, including General Secretary of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist), were killed in an anti-Naxal operation in Narayanpur district.
• The operation was launched following intelligence inputs about the presence of Central Committee and Politburo members, senior Maad Division cadres, and PLGA cadres.
• A member of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) of Bastar was also killed.
• The operation was a landmark achievement, with Basavaraju described as the “backbone” of the Naxal movement.
• Basavaraju was the third member of the Central Committee to be killed this year.
