Trinamool Congress (TMC) accuses the Centre of flouting a Calcutta High Court order to repatriate six migrant workers, including Sunali Bibi, who were pushed into Bangladesh

• The Trinamool Congress (TMC) blames the Union government for the workers’ plight and failure to bring them back.

• A Division Bench directed authorities to bring back Sunali, Danish, and Sabir to India within four weeks of the order’s communication.

• West Bengal’s Minister of Women and Child Development and Social Welfare, Shashi Panja, accused the Centre of flouting the order.

• Samirul Islam, Rajya Sabha MP and Chairman of the Migrant Workers Welfare Board in West Bengal, argued that a Bangladesh court determined the six were not Bangladeshi nationals and asked for arrangements to send them back to India.

• He raised concerns over the advanced pregnancy of Sunali Bibi and the potential loss of Indian citizenship if her grandchild is born while she is in Bangladesh.
