Trump Threatens 100% Tariffs on BRICS Nations Undermining U.S. Dollar

• President-elect Donald Trump has threatened 100% tariffs against nine nations if they undermine the U.S. dollar.

• The threat is directed at countries in the BRICS alliance, including Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates.

• The dollar represents roughly 58% of the world’s foreign exchange reserves, and major commodities like oil are primarily bought and sold using dollars.

• The threat is aimed at countries that will neither create a new BRICS currency nor back any other currency to replace the U.S. Dollar.

• Russian President Vladimir Putin accused the U.S. of “weaponising” the dollar at a BRICS summit in October.
