Union Government Considers Online NEET-UG Exam

• The Union government is considering the possibility of conducting the National Eligibilitycum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) for undergraduate medical education in an online mode.

• Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced that the Ministry will make a decision soon.

• The NEET-UG is administered by the Union Health Ministry and conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

• Two rounds of discussions with the Health Ministry have been conducted on the matter.

• The NEET’s methodology and protocol will be decided upon soon.

• The prices of NCERT textbooks for some classes will be reduced from the next academic year.

• New textbooks for Classes 9 to 12 will be available from the 2026-27 academic session.
