Union government to assist states in obtaining MSP pulses: Agriculture Minister
• The government has approved procurement of tur, urad, and lentil under the Price Support Scheme for 2024-25.
• The procurement will be 100% of state production to increase domestic pulse production, encourage farmers, and reduce import dependence.
• The procurement of tur (arhar) has been approved in major states like Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh.
• Procurement is continuing at minimum support price through NAFED and NCCF in these states.
• As of March 25, 2.46 lakh metric tonnes of tur (arhar) have been procured, benefiting 1,71,569 farmers.
• PM-Asha Yojana has been extended till 2025-26, allowing purchase of pulses and oilseeds from farmers at MSP.
