Posted on August 7th, 2025 in Exam Details (QP Included)

    • US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order imposing an additional 25% tariff on Indian imports, in response to India’s oil imports from Russia.

    • The additional 25% tariff will take effect after 21 days, with the initial 25% tariff set to take effect from Thursday.

    • The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) criticized the actions as “unfair, unjustified and unreasonable.”

    • The MEA stated that the additional ad valorem duty on imports of articles of India, which are directly or indirectly importing Russian Federation oil, was necessary and appropriate.

    • The MEA emphasized that the US and the EU have previously encouraged trade with Russia in excess of India’s oil imports.
