WBPSC Miscellaneous Exam: False Caste Certificate Case -Candidature Cancelled

The West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) has issued an important notification on 18th August 2025 regarding the Miscellaneous Services Recruitment Examination 2023 (Advt. No. 11/2023). As per the announcement, the candidature of three candidates – Shri Santu Pan (Roll No. 1112711), Shri Debabrata Paul (Roll No. 1515271), and Shri Rahul Mahato (Roll No. 1711667) – has been cancelled after verification revealed that they had produced false or fabricated caste certificates.

According to the Commission, no record of the caste certificate submitted by Santu Pan was available on the official portal of the Backward Classes Welfare Department (castecertificatewb.gov.in). In the case of Debabrata Paul, the certificate was found to be tampered, showing ST instead of OBC. Meanwhile, Rahul Mahato himself admitted via e-mail that he had made a false declaration about his caste and qualification. Notices were earlier sent to the candidates, but they failed to provide valid responses or supporting documents.

In view of these findings, the WBPSC has cancelled their candidature for the Miscellaneous Services Recruitment (Final) Examination, 2023. The Commission has emphasized that any attempt to secure benefits through fraudulent caste certificates or misrepresentation will lead to strict action, including cancellation of candidature.

This notification serves as a strong reminder for aspirants that all documents submitted during recruitment must be authentic, verifiable, and issued by competent authorities. Any discrepancy or forgery will directly affect candidature and future prospects in WBPSC examinations.
