    West Bengal Junior Doctors Front to Rejoin Work Despite Fear

    • Members of the West Bengal Junior Doctors Front expressed their desire to rejoin work after a month of protests against the brutal rape and murder of their colleague at R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital.
    • Despite assurances from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the doctors remain haunted by a “fear psychosis.”
    • Senior advocate Indira Jaising for the junior doctors stated that those responsible for the cover-up would subject them to victimisation upon rejoining work.
    • A “settlement” was reached after the fifth round of talks with Banerjee, with the Front sending 40 representatives for the meeting.
    • The Chief Justice assured the doctors that no punitive action would be taken against the protesting doctors who return to work.
