    • West Bengal’s Chief Secretary, Manoj Pant, informs the EC that two of five officials targeted for alleged irregularities have been removed from electoral revision and election-related duties.

    • The State government has initiated an internal inquiry into the issue, and no harsh measures will be taken until the inquiry is complete.

    • The suspension of the officials, who were charged with fraudulent registration of 127 voters using forged documents, came two hours ahead of the poll panel’s deadline.

    • The EC had directed the suspension of four officials in August for alleged irregularities in electoral roll preparation.

    • West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee questioned the EC directive, stating she would not allow any State government official to be punished.
