Tripura Government Sets Task Forces for Biometric Enrolment of Foreign Nationals
• Tripura government plans to establish district-specific task forces to identify, document, and deport illegal foreign nationals.
• Task forces will focus on locating and deporting Bangladeshi and Myanmar nationals, especially Rohingya community.
• Each task force will consist of 15 officers, including police station officers, and an additional Superintendent of Police.
• Task forces are not solely in response to demands from the Tipra Motha Party, but in compliance with Ministry of Home Affairs directives.
• Task forces will register detained foreign nationals, conduct biometric enrolment, and share information with the MHA’s foreigner identification portal.
