India-UK Trade Pact Signed During PM Narendra Modi’s Visit
• India and the UK signed a Comprehensive Economic Trade Agreement during PM Modi’s visit to the UK.
• The deal, announced in May, benefits farmers, MSMEs, footwear, jewellery exports, seafood, and engineering goods sectors.
• British medical devices and aerospace parts will face lower Indian tariffs in India.
• The deal is considered Britain’s “biggest” since Brexit, according to UK trade minister Jonathan Reynolds.
• The deal is also in talks for a limited trade deal with the U.S. and prolonged trade negotiations with the EU and others.
