WBCSMadeEasy: When and how did the inspiration and idea of joining civil service come in your mind?

Afroz Alam:After my Madhyamik examination I thought to be a civil servant as my parents couldn’t afford any professional course expenses and nobody helped. Though I was the joint topper in wb Urdu medium schools.

WBCSMadeEasy:Tell us something about yourself? Educational Qualification, Marks/Division/Class, schooling..

Afroz Alam:I completed my Madhyamik and higher secondary in science stream from calcutta madrasah A P department. Then I got admitted in Maulana Azad college for graduation in microbiology honours and passed out in August 2011.

WBCSMadeEasy: What factors did you consider before selecting your optionals? What were they?

Afroz Alam:while choosing my optional I had two very obvious reasons. First to be well acquainted with the subject you choose and second obviously scoring factor. I had history and Urdu as optionals.

WBCSMadeEasy:How did you sustain the study-momentum throughout the year?

Afroz Alam:It’s upto an individual to get it going. If you have thought to achieve your goal then momentum is accelerated by your own actions and hard work.

WBCSMadeEasy:How many hours did you study per day? How many months did it take you to complete the core syllabus of Compulsory and optional subjects?

Afroz Alam:I didn’t follow the routine ever. Whatever I liked I studied at that moment. But as an average I can say more than four hours study a day is well enough for you.

WBCSMadeEasy:Did u use internet, was it effective?

Afroz Alam:yes, Internet was an integral part of my preparations throughout. It was very helpful. I had always holding my mobile to study something new but people thought it otherwise as a time wasting source.

WBCSMadeEasy:Were you doing any other job during preparation?

Afroz Alam:Initially I didn’t have any job but in the midway I got a job of a primary teacher in a government aided school.

WBCSMadeEasy:Which newspapers & magazines you went through?

Afroz Alam:The times of India and pratiyogita darpan and chronicle year book.

WBCSMadeEasy: Did u take coaching? How was the experience?

Afroz Alam:Yes I was associated with educational support council where I got all the knowledge about Wbcs. Afterwards I taught there also. I went to the academic association for mock tests only.

WBCSMadeEasy:What about Interview in WBCS? Was the board cordial? What should be a proper preparation?

Afroz Alam:Interview was very good. Board members were more than the good persons. Very cordial and interactive.Wbcs aspirants must have good knowledge of bengali to write read and speak. English must be fluent. Body language should be like an officer before you become an officer.Always have smile on your face.

WBCSMadeEasy:Plz suggest some good books .

Afroz Alam:I didn’t follow specific books for any subjects. I read many books on a single chapter or subjects. One or two book can’t help you.
Though specifically I followed polity of m laxmikanth, economy of Tojammal Hossain and my teachers notes and the books they provided.

WBCSMadeEasy:What should be the strategy for cracking this exam?What message you want to give to all aspirants?

Afroz Alam:To get success in Wbcs you must be focused and never try to crossover your aim.it should be your ultimate goal. Try to be better than the best. Set an example. And it’s more important what to READ NOT than what to READ. Hard work and perseverance and self belief and believe in the Almighty Allah will surely lead you to success.

WBCSMadeEasy:Anything else u want to share?

Afroz Alam:Just think that you can do better than anyone else.

WBCSMadeEasy:Was it ur 1st attempt? If not what about previous ones? You are from which batch and what was your rank in WBCS Exam (Plz don’t mind)?

Afroz Alam:My age was a factor when I was filling the form for first time in 2012 but somehow I filled up the form and sat for the exam but again I did a mistake in exam hall by writing roll number in place of ticket number as I wasn’t aware about ticket number then. So in reality I consider this 2013 attempt my first attempt.

Afroz Alam: My rank was 8th among 27 CTO. And 1st among the Muslim names in that list.

WBCSMadeEasy:Do you suggest anything on changed pattern of WBCS Exam like how to choose optional subject, how to study for main exam now , what should be the strategy etc.?

Afroz Alam:Nothing new. Do follow what you think the best suit to you.Wbcs gives you enough time to answer the questions. That’s never a problem for you.

WBCSMadeEasy:Have you ever seen our website? How helpful it is in WBCS exam?

Afroz Alam:No, I hardly go to this website. But after the mains I got a book on civil service interview from your site and that was very helpful. Nobody helped me in my interview except this book. And one of my teacher who gave instructions for 15 mints.
